ACS badgers it’s victims repeatedly at all hours with high pressure tactics.
The owners are con artists and should be held account for their activities. I urge you to contact the owners and give them a dose of their own medicine. I’m sure they will be happy to hear from you at any time of the day.:-)
Over the past two days, I got three calls from this number. Yesterday (12/29/2015) they called at around 11 AM, and then later in the day at around 8 PM. Today (12/30/2015) they called again at 10:30 AM. In all 3 cases, the Caller ID showed "FOUND AMER VETS 1-720-403-9498". I never answer calls from numbers that I don't recognize; so I let all three calls roll thru to voice mail. In each case, they never left any message. Today, I added them to my Call Block List; so they won't be ringing thru to me any more.
Someone called from this number and asked for me by name while I was at a meeting. When my husband told them I wasn't home and asked if he could take a message, the person said there was no message and hung up. Caller ID only showed the number and not any other identification.
UPDATE: I added this number (1-720-403-9498) to my Call Block List as noted above, back on 12/30/2015. But my phone keeps a log of all incoming calls, including the blocked ones. When I checked that log today (1/7/2016), I noticed that there were repeated attempts by these guys to try to get thru, in spite of being repeatedly and automatically disconnected by my phone system. In fact, my blocking system logged over a dozen attempts by these guy to try to get thru to me in just the past 6 days -- usually around 10:30 AM and again around 8:30 PM. So my curiosity got the better of me; and I decided that I really wanted to talk to this outfit directly. So, just for grins, I decided to UN-block their number for an hour tonight (from 8 to 9 PM). And sure enough, right on schedule at 8:35 PM, they called. I answered it with a simple "Hello?". The guy on the other end asked for my wife by name. I said she wasn't available; and he said "That's okay."; and started in on his spiel to me instead. When he finally paused to ask if he could mark me down for a donation, I said that I wasn't really interested; but that I noticed that he had been calling me over 12 times in the last 6 days; and I was curious as to why he was so persistent. That finally stopped him in his tracks with the script; and he said "Oh, we didn't want to bother you. I'll add your number to our Do Not Call list." And with that, he hung up.
It will be interesting to see if he actually follows thru on that promise or not. In any case, though, I put his number back on my Call Block List; since I have no interest in hearing from these guys again. So, no matter what he does, there won't be any more calls from "AMER VETS" to my home.
I receive about six or seven call per day. I have blocked this number but it will show up on my "attempted" calls that were blocked. I never answer calls I do not know. I am about ready to start the option of only getting calls from certain numbers. I have looked over the last month of people who called me. I have about twenty numbers that I actually care about so I am about to use this option and stop all of the blocking. If I meet a new person whom I wish to "get through" I will add them to my list. This option sounds much simpler than buying blockers. I am not in business so this would not be a problem for me.
