This number was used by the Elmsford, NY-based collections company "American Medical Collection Agency" (also doing business as "Retrieval Masters Credit Bureau") in an attempt to reach me at a (740) number. Regardless of the legitimacy of the bill they are seeking to collect (sloppy vendor may have lost record of my payment) I find their use of a "local" number questionable. Companies that trade in personal information for a living should be held to a higher standard of transparency than that.
This is a debt collector based in Houston, TX. They mask their number so it appears someone is calling you from your own area code. When I checked this number in the White Pages reverse look-up, the results state this number is based in Washington Courthouse, OH. How is this legal?
I get this call regularly, I screen all my calls and they don't leave messages.
I am in bankruptcy proceedings and whoever they represent is not supposed to contact me so they
disguise the number and hope to harass you into payment.
Just for general information I am out of work for the second time in 2 years and could not keep up
therefore bankruptcy. I dont think it is right that nyone should have to deal with these collectors when I tried to work with them and they just continued to harass
Wanted to add this number called me again today. I called back and the number instantly goes to a voicemail message in which the company does not identify itself by name, but rather encourages you to leave YOUR info so they can call you back. They already have my information but will not leave me alone. Any way to stop these calls? This is regarding payment of rescinded health coverage costs. I will not be giving them a penny.
This number keeps calling in the evening, never leaves a voicemail message. I have no idea why they are calling me as we have no outstanding debts, and are definitely not headed toward bankruptcy. The number appears as if it is a local call, from our area code, but I never answer calls from a number I don't recognize.
Got a call from this number. Person refused three times to identify the company they work for or whether they were a debt collector or not. Person was trying to get me to reveal my mothers phone number (which was unlisted) to her. Person also refused to say how they got my phone number which is not only two months old (part of a bundle from my local cable company). Eventually, I just gave her a short tutorial on my favorite curse words and hung up on her. I think I am going to buy a whistle for the next call.
