Capital One Credit something, wanted to speak with my husband, or if he wasn't available wanted me to verify his DoB. My husband doesn't have an account with CO, and I told her I wasn't verifying anything since they couldn't even get his cell number right. She was not amused.
Got a Call from this number yesterday 3:30pm'ish on the west coast. The caller on the phone said they were from Capital One calling about my sister's master card. They also said that I was listed as the alternative contact number. Since I wasn't her, they asked if I had a different number to reach her at. I was pretty sure this was BS because A) My sister and I don't talk... so I'm probably the last person my sister would list as an alternative number for anything for any reason. B) My parents would be listed as the alternative number.
It turns out they called my parents house, and left a message. After talking to my mom this morning I learned my sister doesn't have a Capital One anything. I've done a little more research and found that this number is a land line outta southern Virginia and is not connected to Capital One.... at least not directly.
It is Capital One. If you have an account with them, you'd better answer this call. Why? If you don't, they will call anyone with a similar last name - parents, siblings, in-laws, etc. Why do they do this? They will claim they can't find you and needed to locate you. They will do this even if you have spoken to them on the phone, sent them letters, and/or even contacted them by e-mail!! They will tell these people that you gave them their phone numbers and/or address to contact you there - in short, they will lie like the devil. When you confront them about it, they will deny they did this - even if your relative has the call recorded!!
Don't take it. Tell them not to call those other numbers. Then put it in writing - and demand that they stop calling you. Keep all communications in writing. If they persist, file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) on the FTC website.
Yes it is capital one . They lie and tell people with the same last name as you that you use them as a second number. My childhood lawyer friend told me pay them $40 a month at the beginning of every month don't talk to them. The interest and late fees will stop !!!! and you'll just pay the principal.. Fornicate them they are not nice people the only nice chargecard company out there is American Express they have been Verry nice to me...
Capital One leaving me a message about some account that i don't have. The name they put on the vm wasn't even close to mine. I don't have any credit cards anymore. The banks got enough money out of all of us with the bailouts so if they think I'll sign up for a card to give them more, they need to put the crack pipe down and get a clue. What's in my wallet? Cash, and a Credit Union checking account.
8045884755 call my cell asking for a Patricia & ? Belmont regarding their Master Card. Many hangups & voicemails left. I finally called them back on the number they left, 8002729756 x2711335 & talked to Chris (male). I don't have a last name even close to Belmont and asked Chris to stop the calls. He stated he was with Capital One. Who knows, I told him it's shenanigans either way; the Belmonts and/or Capital One not checking a phone number when they give out their credit cards..
