I just cancelled our DTV yesterday, I assume it's them. Ironically, the rep was very helpful and didn't try to persuade me to stay with them.  I'm sure they will charge me more than expected as an early cancellation fee, so I will probably end up disputing something.

This is a DirecTV number. I had cancelled my service and I believe they were just verifying the account, which, is a good thing.
Contrary to what some have said below I have found DirecTV to be a good and honorable company as they have always treated me right. I only needed to use their help center once in several years and it was a simple, quick and thorough process. I think knowing and understanding your contract with them is key in understanding their services and in our area DirecTV offers a much better package than the others for a lesser cost. Once our finances are back to normal I will most likely call them back to reinstate my service.

DTV was great!  The only reason we left is Verizon stopped offering package deals with DTV/DSL only.  They now require you to pay for a home phone line whether you want to or not.  Other problem was they didn't offer a new discount after our contract was up.  They should have.  They hung up as soon as I answered.

I told DTV shut off my service after my bill went up 25% and they wouldn't work with me to get the price back to what it was before. I told the person to shut it off at the end of the billing cycle, they called the next day and offered to reduce the price by 27%, so I agreed to keep the service, then about five minutes later she called back and said she couldn't do that because I was in the old Prime Star area and DTV didnt offer that package in that area, I told her to call me back later because my boss was calling and I needed to take the call, she kept trying to talk, finally got off the phone with her. DTV called back that afternoon while I was watching my grandson's ball game and I didn't take the call, next morning they shut my service off 20 days early trying  to force me to call them, I did call and told them to let me know what my bill was for the last ten days and I would pay it and be done with DTV! So long DTV..

Cancelled my account with DTV yesterday ( we weren't in a contract).  This number called and didn't leave a message, but glad I found that it wasn't anything crazy.  :)
