received a call from Annie with Cyber Wizard to fix all the problems on my computer with microsoft - asked how they knew I had a computer and it had problems and was told because I was the registered owner of a microsoft operating system. Wanted me to go to my computer and give them information - NO WAY. I hope they don't call back - scammers.
Thest people are from "PC Mechanic", saying they are an affiliate of Microsoft.. They have been constantly calling me from their toll free # using a 999 area code to block any tracing of their call.
They want you to enter a code into your computer that allowes them access into your system to supposedly do repairs.
I continue to get phone calls from 000-000-0000 and they are telling me they are part of Microsoft and want to repair my computer as it is infected. They want me to go to www.supportme.com and put in a code to allow them to access my computer.
I HAVE RECEIVED A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER SAYING MY PC WOULD CRASH IF I DIDN'T FIX A PROBLEM WITH THE WINDOWS PROGRAM. I CALLED MICROSOFT TO SEE IF IT WAS LEGIT. THEY SAID MICROSOFT DOESN'T OPERATE THIS WAY & THEY DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS COMPANY.
A moment ago (Fri, Sept 7th '12) I received a call from "Grace" supposedly working for "G-Tech" or "Z-Tech" Support, and stating that they have been getting 'messages' from my girlfriend's computer that it was somehow not working properly or infected.
What was interesting is that 'Grace' knew the full name of my girlfriend (probably picked it out of a 411 listing), and 'Grace' provided her name, the name of her company, and the phone number 201.234.4604 asking that my girlfriend call her back after work today to discuss the supposed computer problem.
Seems somewhat bogus to me that they've been receiving 'messages' from my GF's computer; at the very least it's a poor telemarketing initiative targeted at computer owners with little technical knowledge...
