The government could help by making internet phone services illegal? Yes, let's step back in time and stop innovation. All phones should go back to switchboards. That'll stop phone spam.
This is just one number they use...they are an offshore pfishing operation according to our state atty general, and they do not abide by any laws, let alone the do not call registry. Just hang up on them or better yet don't answer. Whatever you do, don't give them any info and pass this along to others.
I don't think they're off-shore. I have received in the upwards of 30 calls from these people, and every single one of them sounded like they were either in the US or Canada; never got one person who has sounded foreign at all. The stay hidden by duping their Caller ID number though; if you try calling these numbers back, they will always ring as a disconnected number, or a number otherwise not in service.
Received a call from this number today. It is coming from an area in Oradell, New Jersey. Called the Bergen County Police Department for Oradell, NJ at 201-261-0200. They are aware of these calls going out, but are unable to trace the calls without a court order. Maybe if enough people call the Bergen Police they will GET a court order. Spoke with a SGT. Smith and he said to hang up, and not respond with pressing any numbers. I have the number blocked on my telephone, and filed a complaint with the FTC - Do Not Call.
