Caller with very strong east indian accent says that they are windows service provider and that i have a virus in my mother board. they gave me some instructions such as r click on my computer then click on manage then to click on event viewer then system,and asked me to look for red x or yellow triangles which i did do but was not connected to internet.I did not enable anything.They gave me there phone number and supervisors name was brian williams and they from from the London England office.
I spoke with my tech today and he says this is a scam.This area code isnt even England it is a US area code.SO BEWARE.
same storie as most of you, don't him I need a number to confirm his id, number had no dial tone. There was a warning by our local police a few weeks back explain this scam. Thank you for sharing.
Exactly like all the other people, they told me that they were calling from microsoft and that a dangerous virus had got into my computer. That if I was in my PC, as a matter of fact I was, but i smelled that something was not correct and fishy and asked them to give me a phone were to call later as i was going out. They said that they were going to call me back. i will know now how to respond.
But what intrigues me is, what are authorities doing to stop someone like this organization, because by the noise i heard, it was almost like a call center.So, were do you have to go, denounce or make them aware of this scam.
If someone does not stop them, they are going to get someone that is probably old, lonely and not computer literate and deprive him of his saving, his credit card, in one word steal his identity and use for their benefit.
i would like to see if someone that is computer savy, catching this guys and putting them behind bars.
Unfortunately, I had so many problems with my computer, with "Not Responding", that I fell for it.
They convinced me, they were service for Microsoft, and could solve this problem.
Have been on the computer for 2 days with Jars Support, and now have more problems than I had before.

You should not be allowed within 10 feet of anything electronic, so please ... place your cell phone on the table and step away from the keyboard ... ;) This was so funny. They called me and I kept the guy on the phone for an HOUR! HA. Granted, it's an hour of my life I'll never get back, but at least for an hour that individual couldn't sucker someone else.
