I just got a call on from this number, too, they left a recorded voicemail about carpet cleaning. I also have a 201 area code cell phone. I looked up this phone number all over the internet and it led me to an IP phone company based out of England. I called them, acting all innocent and like I really wanted to find out who their NJ Carpet cleaning customer was so I could use their services. They put me on hold for a few minutes and said they couldn't give me any information on the phone number (which of course, is not what I asked!).
I also called Verizon to have this number blocked, but they told me they cannot block a number if it is not a 10-digit number. This is clearly designed this way on purpose to get around anti-spam rules. They are using IP phones to make these calls and putting 9-digit phone numbers in for their caller ID, knowing that companies cannot block them. My phone is on the Do Not Call registry and I never get marketing calls, so I am really curious to know if they got my number off some list or if they're just dialing every number in the 201 area code. My bet is on the latter.
If they call again I will pick up and try to schedule an appointment. If I get anywhere with this I will update here!
It is me 201-425-781 the "carpet care" guy... I have dedicated my life to crank calling people just for the hell of it and then hanging up on them when they want to speak to me... I will continue to do this terrorizing the masses one person at a time unless I get the sum of ONE MILLION DOLLARS delivered to me secrete hideout in an island of the coast of Bolivia... I am "carpet care" guy and evil villain who will terrorize you into submission... ha ha ha ha

But seriously, the company who is doing this should be shut down....
I live in Fair lawn and just got this call. It is an ad robot, I went to the operator and told her to take me off her list that this was a cell phone and she hung up on me.
