I receive a call many times during the day from 201-465-8180. The last two times they called me (within 30 minutes) it sounded like they were blowing a horn at me and then the very last call someone just kept saying "ummmmm". So annoying. Wish there was some way to block these people. Also, I work late at night and they start calling around 8 am. Any way to block this number? I am on the No Call List.
No doubt a debt collector using a spoofed number. DO NOT ANSWER. Google Digitone Call Blocker. It is everything it claims to be. $100 at Amazon & worth every penny.
This is MCM....Midland Credit Management. They are located in many states...but I think their HQ is in Texas. They are scumbags of the highest order!! They sued my wife over a credit card that was fraudulently opened in her name after hurricane Katrina. They had ZERO evidence but old bills to our old home back in Louisiana...which had been destroyed! The card was evidently charged up to the max...and since there was no residence there anymore...it just went back to the credit card company. When we got before the Judge....he found that there was no evidence that we had ever opened up a credit card from them...since they could not produce the SIGNED application nor produce anything but old bills...which does not constitute as being evidence that you had a contract with them. The Judge dismissed the suit saying they failed to have any evidence. Even so...they keep calling and calling...and I never answer the phone.
Remember...find out your state laws that protect you as a consumer. In Texas, the Statute of Limitations on an unsecured loan...like a credit card is 4 years. Companies like MCM prey on people's fears...and these scumbags will try to scare you. Do yourself a favor...even if you do owe someone money, find out your rights and your States laws as to the Fair Collection Laws in your State. If they start to harass you..tell them you are recording the conversation, and that you will forward the recording to your States Attorney General if they are abusive!! That will usually get them to hang up...and if they call again...tell them you are recording the conversation! Most States have laws to protect you against abusive Collection Companies like MCM!!!
This caller 201-465-8180 left a message on my voice mail claiming they were Frontier Airlines wanting to notify me of a change in my flight itinerary and wanting me to call them back. I don't have any flights schedule, so this must be a scam to get me to return their phone call. I suspect a debt collector who I have not heard from for about a year.
