They are off google's radar because their site is purposely coded that way...so NO search engine picks it up.
That's part of the scam.
They need the site as a 'storefront' just in case someone is smart enough to insist that the charge be treated as fraud and then a chargeback is performed.
They need to try and legitimize the scam and convince the person they frauded that they will issue a refund and all will be alright.
But that is not true in the least.
Too many chargebacks and the mule looses the merchant account.
Then they need to find another merchant account or new mule.
I also got charged $6.99 and had to change my bank card. I'm filing a fraud complaint with the bank and will hopefully get the money back. But beware because this charge could very easily blend in with other charges so everyone check your statements carefully. Their customer service line directed me to call a different number. That number was also just a machine.
Here's the problem. I work for a bank and handle these kinds of disputes. Our bank pays our card network (MasterCard for our bank) $15.00 to even submit a dispute claim of fraud. So guess what our ceiling is? If the claim is less than $15.00 the bank just writes it off as part of the cost of providing debit cards to customers. There probably aren't any claims against Vandergrift's merchant account because the amounts they are charging our customers are not worth going through the paperwork to claim. The bank just absorbs the loss. So Vandergrift is actually taking advantage of every bank that receives one of these minimal claims and the bank does nothing but refund to our customers and issue a new card. Victims need to call their card provider.
This thief of a company charged $7 bucks from my account on 06 March 2009, something has to be done about this. With this company taking a few dollars here and a few dollars there, this could add up to millions of dollars being placed in the pockets of a few. This could be very detrimental if nothing is done.
Checked my credit card account today and found a charge from Vandegrift. WHAT an apt name! Immediately called my company; they credited my account, and they canceled the card. Paperwork will follow, but for the moment, I'm protected. A tip you may find useful: I have a separate credit card I use exclusively for internet transactions. This fraudulent charge was not on my internet card, so I knew at once there was a problem.
