Called landline. Left no message. CID displayed FAV. We NEVER answer ANY unsolicited call or number we do not recognize. Too many CRIMINALS trying to victimize whoever answers the phone. If they don't leave a message then the call is not important.
They called at night using my first name and now this morning. I would never give to an org. That uses such tactics. I will call my telephone company to learn how to block this call and any other annoying invasions of privacy.
The DNC list is a joke. The FTC & FCC are useless government organizations thay do not have the will or power to stop this nonsense. And, the phone companies love this because they're making money.
These calls are robo calls and the man who sounds real on the line "Dave or officer bla bla, Sgt someone..." is pre recorded. It's a computer software program. Say hello and it will repeat the same intro with no variation over and over every time exactly - you can hear it if you listen closely. This is why it talks over you also. There is a list of replies the software is set up to deliver. These are the most common replies to your responses one would encounter in such a conversation. Ask it something out of the ordinary and specific that it doesn't have a pre recorded reply to and it will usually hang up. Ask Dave to spell something simple or what Dave's favorite halloween candy is and you will get a long pause or a reply that tries to change the subject back to the scam at hand. Keep insisting on an answer and it will hang up on you.
ID says FOUND AMER VETS. I always like to support the Vets and give to another organization. They call numerous times and never leave a message. Very annoying. If they want a donation at least leave a message stating who they are and what they stand for. According to their Form 990 - see guidestar.org - the took in 6.9 million in 2012. Almost 5 M went to "Professional Fundraiser Contractors". The president takes a salary of $92K and the secretary/treasury $107K. Doesn't leave much to support the vets.
