Called landline. Left no message. CID displayed FAV. We NEVER answer ANY unsolicited call or number we do not recognize. Too many CRIMINALS trying to victimize whoever answers the phone. If they don't leave a message then the call is not important.
Wow!! Maybe it's normal for these kinds of charities, but it appears they pay 55% of every dollar collected to the company that finds people to donate and then 30% goes to another company to actually collect the money. I guess once you say you will donate, then another company sends you crap in the mail asking you to send the money. So 85 cents of every dollar goes to the leeches right off the top. Better to just give money directly to a vet the next time you see one begging on the street.
Found Amer Vets - 201-603-2814. I answered this phone call, I normally don't pick up the phone. But I realized the man on the phone was not a real man (may have sounded like one), he laughed too much, and I heard the connection every time he finished the sentence. If they send stuff, it will go into the trash.
My elderly mother has been receiving calls twice a day from this number- these calls have now become downright harassing. They address her by her first name and when she asks them to please stop calling as she can't afford to make a donation due to being on a fixed income, they repeatedly say "don't hang up-we know we can count on you for [an amount]'. She is becoming increasingly more upset by these calls. Despite being on the do not call list, the calls are coming twice a day. I will file a complaint with the FTC as well as the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs tomorrow. As an aside, my husband is prior military (Gulf War vet) and my dad is a veteran of WWII - we fully support the service members and their families but this 'charity' is over the top.
