Very wierd- i answered the phone and the lady (with a very thick accent- and very loud background) starts talking- no acknowledging my greeting- just starts in saying her name in NANCY..and bla bla bla- i say hello 2-3 times before she stops reading her script..i ask who she is looking for and she says "your IT manager.." and them immediately asks "is that joe?" i reply- "what is this regarding and who is calling" and she replies- "this is Nancy- NANCY... with comodo- that c-o-m-o-d-o.. calling about the exp ssl license for 123.com" i tell her i can take a message and while she is polite, she was hard to understand and this is an old scam
I have told them several times that we are not interested and to take us off their calling list. However, they keep calling regardless. It's a bit maddening.
Guy calls, has a very heavy accent- asks for person "in charge of the website" i ask who is calling- he gives me some name i can understand. i ask where he is calling from and he claims is is somthing called "ssl authority" something (LOL) i ask what it is regarding nad he says "your website" so i ask for more information and he gets huffy and says "it is regarding your website" so i pause, sile and say "yes. you mentioned that. can you be more specific?" Then he sks if i am the one in charge, and I say "no, but i am the one who finds out who is calling and what you want before i transfer you" then i put him on hold, looked this page up, and he is still on hold (5 minutes and counting at this point) Waiting to see how long it takes for him to hang up....
Guy calls and is barely audible by backgroiund noise. asks for IT dept. i ask who is calling and he says he neds the IT dept. i reply "ok- who is calling" he tells me comodo (which used to be spelled komodo) i ask him what he is calling about- and he tells me the "ssl certificate for your website" and that the "ssl certificate is about the expire" (they have been calling for months if not years and our ssl certificate has been "expiring" for this entire time...LOL
i put him on hold for a few minutes and then dumped him into a voice mailbox
As soon as I realize I've answered a call from a call center, I pretend I can't hear anything they are saying. I interrupt them by saying Hello? Hello? They keep starting over, "Can you hear me now?" I say Hello? again and hang up! If they call back, I do it again.
Then I never have to answer how I'm doing today or what kind of copier I have or who orders my printing supplies and so on and so on......
Got a call from "Richard", he was asking for the IT Department. He said he was from Comodo Group and was calling about the SSL certificate for our website. I told him we would contact Comodo if we wanted to use their services, and he asked if I had their contact information. I told him I could find their website easily enough. He said he would try again later and hung up on me.
