Just answered a call from this number (after several calls without messages). They say they are from Medco and they're very convincing. They want to give information but need to "verify" that it's me first. Said they had my id number and they did know where I worked. I would not give any info. and told them to mail the info to me. I then called the real Medco (phone number on my card) and they said nobody had tried to call me and this was a fraudulent call. BEWARE!!!!
This number called me 3 times today. On the 3rd time, I answered it, she said it was MEDCO and she asked for my wife by name. I said "we're not interested and please don't call us again."
I suspect that this MIGHT be a Medco subcontractor. I think that they're calling to get us to quit using the retail pharmacy and only use them via mailorder. It's a way for Medco to milk a few coins out of their customers and reduce their own costs. This is "over the line", to me. They are a prescription insurance company and nothing more. If our doctor writes a prescription, we bring it to the drug store or mail it in. We don't really care if MEDCO would prefer not to pay it... under contract, they have to!
Probably is Medco. I did try to get some of my medications switched to them a few months back...but gave up because they gave me all this crap about getting my Dr. approval...which they already have..because my prescription recorded through my insurance at another pharmacist. When you are sick..you don't want to deal with this crap.
I will stick with my LOCAL "mom and pop" pharmacy...thank you very much. It's worth the extra $10 a month. I'd rather the money go into my neighborhood economy than a big multi national chain. They fill out my prescription in while I'm standing there. They have the best late hours. The most I've seen people waiting in line is about 2 in front of me. ..they know me..and are brilliant at questioning my doctor's prescriptions.. AND yes ...doctor's can make errors...but a personal pharmacists that knows you and your neighbors is the greatest thing. I used to go to a chain pharmacy Duane Reade or other local..the service sucks!
