I got a call just now from 202-011-3341. It's a guy with an extremely
thick accent asking for Mrs. [my name]. He tells me that he is
calling about my computer. He says that I have downloaded some
security threats and malicious viruses and he needs me to go to my
computer to turn it on, and he needs to tell me where to go to verify
that I have the malicious content and then he would tell me how to fix
it. I explained that I know my computer, and how to use it, and that I
am sure it's a scam. He then proceeded to YELL at me over the phone
and say"IT'S FOR YOUR OWN PROTECTION,M'AM! YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO ME
AND DO THIS!! FOR YOUR OWN PROTECTION!!" I told him what I thought he
was full of and hung up.
Got a call from 202-011-3341 this am. Said 'Hello" twice and hung up. The silence on the other end indicated telemarker or worse. Who needs these people!
This guy needs to be stopped. Got a call about my computer being hacked and he wanted information but I googled it first while he was on the phone trying to get me to look stuff up. Then I told him it was a scam and hung up.
Received a call from this number with a 0 in front of it. I don't waste my time with these con artists...which, of course, is exactly what they are. Don't answer, block the number, done.
just got one of those calls. - ( i am in Long Island, NY ) --- some Indian guy ( thick accent ) said my windows o.s. was infected - said their " global servers picked up the information about the infection " - and that i had " infected files " - he said he would fix it for me - he wanted me to start my computer so that he could control it - ( obviously to drop my firewall and give him access ) -- said his main headquarters ere in california -- said he wouldn't contact the FBI or Homeland Security when i told him i wanted a government investigation - he said they couldn't fix the problem - that he was the one to fix it - i got him angry - these guys are all over the place - they want to hack ME - get info and then bill me for destroying my system - IYOGI is another group that contacted me more than a year ago - those guys had " 35 technicians right there " in cyberspace ready to fix my problems -
just take these guys on a spaceship through the cyberspace they flew in from and WASTE THEIR TIME ON THE PHONE asking questions - time is money to these guys - make THEM PAY!!
I *69 his phone number after he angrily hung up on me - the number was 202-011-3341.
call your local newspaper and advise them that these fools are out there and that their publication of this scam would be a " public service " and be of great help to the their readers.
