Got the same call today. 4.25.2014. The african sounding gentleman on the phone told me the same thing. We found your name in a database, you were ordering drugs online, it is illegal according to the "RIOT" act.
When I told him I did not know who he was and I could not verify anything he said, he replied with " I will send you information in the mail" and hung up.
DONT EVER, give your information to anyone on the phone who CALLS YOU FIRST... Over the phone scams are easy for them because your information is being sold on the internet constantly, even by companies like Amazon and others.
I also got a call from the same guy, Officer Carsy Thorson from the Drug Enforcement Administration Narcotics division 7-6 in Washington D.C. district of Columbia. I think this is him name, but it was hard to understand. He claimed that he was a DEA agent and that my name came up in their on-going investigation. Basically, he told me that if I didn't "pay my fine" they would come arrest me, and he was trying to save me the embarrassment of this. He also said that the reason he is "offering" me this deal is because my record was clean. At first I was shocked and scared, but then my common sense kicked in and realized that what he was saying didn't add up. While I was on the phone with him, I got on the computer and typed in the telephone number he called from. Immediately, multiple blogs said that they got the same call, and this was a scam. When I told him that the DEA would not ask for money, and they wouldn't "offer a deal" over the phone. Of course he denied it and said that he WAS the DEA. He eventually hung up on me. Oh, and the funny part is that he had police scanners in the background to make it sound real. I read on someone else's blog the exact same line of bull$hit. Unfortunately, these people have scammed others out of thousands of dollars!
I received the exact same call on 3/13/2014 , leaving a voicemail just like your conversation. Sounded like someone speaking jungle ebonics while tea bagging his boyfriend.
Officer Carsey Thorsen of the DEA strikes again! He called me and accused me of buying illegal online drugs, and said I could avoid arrest if I sent a check for $1547 via money gram to Jose Martinez, Dominican Republic (Santa Domingo). He also told me I had a "clean" record and that was why he was making this "special offer." He alluded to drug cartels, murders, and all sorts of awful things going on because of prescription drug abuse. I went to the DEA website and reported the scam, but the guy is still calling me (Verizon blocked the 202-241-2001 number and now he is calling on 202-506-8135). They won't give up! Just be careful that if you ever deal w/any kind company on the internet, it is legitimate (the DEA has a list on its website).
