This IRS scam has become a favorite of our India friends (lol) and Pakistan. They've apparently had some success in scaring people into letting them extort money. Where are the drones when you need one.
Got the same type of IRS investigation agents. Said someone reported I was committing fraud. Got mad when I left. Told me to call his supervisor. He said they could close out the case in 45 minutes or then issue a arrest warrant for me. I said issue the warrant. He said okay and hung up.
Calling stating they are a criminal investigation department for the IRS and that I've defrauded the US government and need a criminal attorney. Funny, they didn't even use my legal name- just the name my phone bill is under.
