This IRS scam has become a favorite of our India friends (lol) and Pakistan. They've apparently had some success in scaring people into letting them extort money. Where are the drones when you need one.
I also got a message from this phone number saying that they are from the Prime Investigation of the IRS and that there are serious allegations against me. The funny thing is that the IRS never leaves a message like this and always gives out an 800 number and not a 202 number and the best part was that at the end of the message it says May God Save You.
The IRS would never leave a message like this. It is so sad to what extend they go now, trying to scam people out of money.
This is a Pakistan or india based IRS scam. Do not fall for this.

The IRS does not initiate any legal action over the phone. Report it also to your local law enforcement agency. The scammers use voice over IP lines (e.g. magicjack (Ymax corporation). This is always against these companys' terms of use and can lead to termination of their contract. However only law enforcement can initiate the contact if you yourself are not a customer. Ultimately this is a case for the FBI legal attache in Islamabad. If you are really annoyed: call or write to your representative in Congress. As these scams happen all over the country maybe this will trigger a reaction (and the NSA can finally be a force for good).
The scammers are at it again, had 8 calls today from this number 202-239-7173 Says he is from the IRS and wants to talk to my husband, so I thought I would toy with them and told them my husband would probably run. That made him mad and he said I would have to fix it then I said why they are not coming after me I dont care and thats when they proceeded to call 6 more times in 5 minutes! This Indian accent man said they where sending the police over in 40 minutes if I did not fix this problem! Send them over!
LOL now called back from another number 202-241-2071 saying my husband needs to call them back because there is a criminal investigation! Must really think we are stupid! 9 calls in one day and the day is not over!
202-241-2071 called saying i have a problem with IRS and i have to give him my attorney's number. As soon as i start asking him questions and start spelling and writing down what he is saying , he got mad said i will get a phone call from officer in next 20 mins and he hung up on me. SCAM SCAM SCAM ..........
