I just received a call from The National Fraud Prevention Center #202-241-7693, and he sounded very convincing.
Except for the fact that when I looked up that number in google, It came back as some ajax debt collections company in DC. I think that these people are the worst of the worst as far as debt collectors are concerned. Trying to scare people into something by Lying about being arrested is atrocious. So, he told me I have 3 federal charges, which I cant remember nor did I ever commit. And said I have 2 Hours to call back and admit guilt or they will arrest me. I called back to let them know I know its a scam and that they just work at collections. He got very upset saying that I need to hire a lawyer and that the feds will be at my house in a matter of hours. Then I read him some online complaints, he wasnt impressed. Then I got to the money and he really started to get defensive. Saying very strictly that he is not asking for money, I think that was because not only are they perpetrating a fraud on the phone if they talk about money collections they become another level of Fraud and are liable for arrest due to the nature of impersonations of a federal employee/
The cops are not here yet and when they do , if they do, I will update this message saying to take them seriously. Until then , Screw these guys.
To day I received a call from a Man with very poor English, stating I had to pay for outstanding Loans and if I did not pay today
That I was going to Jail. I told him good ,send some one that way I will know who they are talking about,,,This man kept calling and harassing me, 6 different times. He finally left me a voice mail. I kept it... The # was 202-241-7693.
Beware-If you get a call from this number-The Gentleman with a heavy accent whom called my cell phone stated he was from the National Fraud Protection Center mispronounced my name and stated they had been trying to locate me as there was a Federal judgment against me! He gave me some case number and stated to have my lawyer contact or myself by tomorrow as the case will be heard tomorrow and I will be prosecuted with federal charges and there would be a notarized warrant and the local government will come and take me away...His last statement was an indicator that this was a scam the caller stated
" You have "a" good luck" and hung up. Please beware of people who call out of the blue with scary statements. I do not know much about other countries governments but I do know in our country the United States of America does not handle the Federal Judicial responsibilities in this manner.
I have received three calls from this number and got a foreigner saying he is agent Jeff Edwards and he is from Washington DC. I asked him why he has an American name with a foreign accent. All he could say is I was going to get served with a bench warrant and arrested for back taxes. I told him I just met with my CPA last week he is misinformed this is a joke and a SCAM I want to report this number to our authorities to stop other people from getting upset my blood pressure is off the chart.
Person with accent keeps calling stating he's calling from The National Fraud Prevention Center, provides a case # and states that a bench warrant has been issued against me for fraud. He stated that I had not paid my taxes. When I stated that the IRS has not contacted me he says they are bigger than the IRS. When I asked for more information he hung up on me, but keeps calling my home. I've refused to answer the calls but he's left a message on my answering machine and keeps calling me.
