I just received a call from The National Fraud Prevention Center #202-241-7693, and he sounded very convincing.
Except for the fact that when I looked up that number in google, It came back as some ajax debt collections company in DC. I think that these people are the worst of the worst as far as debt collectors are concerned. Trying to scare people into something by Lying about being arrested is atrocious. So, he told me I have 3 federal charges, which I cant remember nor did I ever commit. And said I have 2 Hours to call back and admit guilt or they will arrest me. I called back to let them know I know its a scam and that they just work at collections. He got very upset saying that I need to hire a lawyer and that the feds will be at my house in a matter of hours. Then I read him some online complaints, he wasnt impressed. Then I got to the money and he really started to get defensive. Saying very strictly that he is not asking for money, I think that was because not only are they perpetrating a fraud on the phone if they talk about money collections they become another level of Fraud and are liable for arrest due to the nature of impersonations of a federal employee/
The cops are not here yet and when they do , if they do, I will update this message saying to take them seriously. Until then , Screw these guys.
My daughter got a call yesterday and got her upset it was from the Fraud unit in Washington DC saying she owes allot of money and there liars. They have all of her personal information and reported to the JSO it is scamming and also spoke to a lawyer to get advice on what to do. Told me to watch it
Hey, so yeah just got a call too, but it was for my husband who is currently deployed in Afghanistan, Wouldn't tell me what he did or what the warrant was for, very very rude people. Said they were sending over a bench warrant now lol.
Yeah last night I got a very scary call from a foreigner that I could not even understand. I had to speak to 3 different "men" and finally A guy told me that I was a suspect in several fraud cases. that I had court cases against me, and wanted my personal information, which I refused to give him. I asked him his info he kept giving me an non understandable name, I asked what company he was with he said we aren't a company we are the Natl. Fraud Prevention Center. Washington DC. He told me I better have my lawyer call in one half an hour or I was going to jail. I told him its 8 oclock at night in this COUNTRY. His response was well who is gonna come take care of you while you are in jail. And he started screaming at me. So I hung up on him. At first I was really scared then I realized. I have never broken a law in my life and although I do have some medical bills I have never committed fraud in any way shape or form. But I would like to stop these people. He was very evil and threatening to me. If they ever call me again they WILL get a call from my lawyer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS when I hung up they called me back at least 6 more times in which I hung up on them each time. I call this harassment. If it is a bill collector I will be calling the Attorney Generals office.
