As others said, the recorded robotic message stated that I (or my legal representative) should contact the number immediately (202-506-9784 Julie Smith)to avoid legal action from the IRS. I erased it and did not call. Glad I was able to validate my suspicions here on this site. The IRS or any other agency for that matter, will always send a letter in writing if it were necessary to contact a tax payer. This is a hoax and scam. These folks should be ashamed - get a job and do something productive with your life.

This dumbass called and left me an electronic voicemail warning of impending legal action from the IRS if I didn't respond quickly. thanks for info that these guys are scammers as thought.
Freaked me out when I got the automated call from "Officer Julie of the IRS." Like others have said, I knew the IRS wouldn't contact me that way, but still made me uncomfortable. Glad I was able to look it up on this site and see it was a scam, like I thought. Will block them from calling again.
An electronic voice claiming to be Julie Smith IRS agent has called twice from the 202 506-9784 number. I've reported it to both the IRS and FTC sites.
