As others said, the recorded robotic message stated that I (or my legal representative) should contact the number immediately (202-506-9784 Julie Smith)to avoid legal action from the IRS. I erased it and did not call. Glad I was able to validate my suspicions here on this site. The IRS or any other agency for that matter, will always send a letter in writing if it were necessary to contact a tax payer. This is a hoax and scam. These folks should be ashamed - get a job and do something productive with your life.
Someone called from this number saying they are from IRS. They said I owe taxes and need to pay $6874 in half hour or They will send sheriffs to arrest me next day. They wanted me to pay with cash thru Smith pay voucher. They told me to go to Smith parking lot to call them back for further instruction. That's where I knew it was a scam. The real IRS wouldn't want me to go to Smith or other Supermarket.
They called stating that they are from the IRS and that a recent investigation and unpaid debt resulted in a warrant for my arrest later today. They would stay on the phone with me until I get cash, go to a store to get a payment voucher.
