woman called to call back very time sensitive matter. I suspected that IRS calls from dc number. So instead of calling back i searched the internet and this discussion came up on the top. Thanks everyone for taking time and post about it so that others would not become a victim of such a scam.
There was a woman with a real heavy indian accent on my voicemail. It was really difficult to understand her however, she threatened that if I did not contact her immediately, that there would be charges brought up against me. Once, I contacted her from my job which appears as a governmental number they did not pick up and I was prompted to leave a voicemail message. Thank all of you who have posted about this happening to you. I was able to be more informative once reading the posts before me.
Man calling himself Dan Brown (202.506.9084) left a voicemail stating he was IRS and urgent to return his call b/c of a time sensitive manner. I got two more messages after that. Returned the call and Michael Johnson answered the phone, same voice as Dan Brown -- one person pretenting to be two. He read off an affadavit claiming IRS legal actions pending against me and since I didn't respond back that my assets were being frozen and that DMV is revoking my license.
I wasn't smart enough to search the internet before calling back; and had a panic attack when he mentioned that the sheriff was coming to my workplace to arrest me for fraudulent tax filings for the past several years.
Thanks to all of you who have posted about this happening to you.
He didn't solicit any funds, not did I provide any personal information-- but not the way to start a morning, while at work.
