They have my direct phone number at work and call multiple times daily. I have answered the call many times and no one will speak. I have decided to answer each time they call and just immediately place the call on hold. It's amazing how much quicker they hang up when they get put on hold! It's annoying but I can't register the business number on the Do Not Call Registry list so it's what I have to do in order to keep smiling through the frustration. Jerks! :-O
I am glad that you got someone who would listen. I have always paid cash except for my mortgage. My deceased husband also paid cash. He has been dead since 1986. A few weeks ago I got a call from these people (BCR) wanting to talk with him; claimed he owed a credit card bill that was 4 years old. Asked them how could he owe a bill when he had been dead for 25 years. Then it must be your son we need to speak with. Great I have no sons. I was polite but finally went off on them. They call back but say nothing. I am waiting for their next call and will use a trick one of my students told me about that his mom used and they stopped. Air horn is waiting. Politeness has left the building.
Jeff, I wish that was the case for me. I'm glad you received appropriate treatment. I just get hung up on or placed on hold for indefinite amount of time. I have also received calls from that and a similar number for at least 6 different names to my new number (we moved 4 months ago and received a new phone number). Ridiculous.
Now I just ignore their messages on the machine/voicemail.
Keep receiving calls from this number on my cell phone. I finally had enough and called back, and they identified themselves as BCR, it's a collection company. They said they were looking for a Greg, I told them there was no Greg here and I wanted them to stop calling. He said he would put me in contact with someone who can help me, but I got disconnected. I called back a couple minutes later, talked to a woman this time, she said they are trying to reach a Barbara, I told her there was no one here by that name either, then I told her what just happened, she said they were trying to get in touch with both Greg and Barbara, I told her neither one of them are here, she asked me if I knew where she could reach them and I told her no, never heard of them, so she said she would put me in contact with someone who can take my number off their lists. All I got this time was constant ringing, no one answered. I am on the do not call list, and I am going to contact them, because this is harassment.
