Just got a call from this number but since I don't know anyone in D.C. other than maybe Uncle Sam, I ignored it and blocked the number on my iPhone. Bear in mind, like others have said, the IRS is never going to call you directly saying you owe them money let alone with someone either with a foreign accent as thick as the ones I've fielded or recently one using a robotic voice. The government deals with everything on paper but these scammers aren't going to do that because 1) It's too expensive and 2) it'll be stamped coming from India or Nigeria and 3) Mail can frequently be traceable to its source so they use phone calls instead. Thing is, I was constantly getting called by someone with a barely intelligible accent of some sort (India maybe) so I hung up on him. He called back immediately and was really angry which I thought was hilarious. I traced his phone number and it was in D.C. but pointing to a residential house in some suburb and definitely not a government building. Very fishy. It's possible that they have some sort of phone relay service installed at the house so they call from their country of origin to that Washington DC house which in turn calls people using that local number to mask the foreign call to making it sound more legit if matching this person stating their from the IRS in D.C.

I have been receiving calls from 202-657-6093, listed as being from D.C., no message left. I looked it up and previous report say these people work for the IRS but don't have any information nor do they speak clear English. I don't answer unknown numbers and our phone numbers are all on a Do Not Call registry. They are very likely running a scam. I would like these "unknowns" to STOP CALLING!

It's a scam
That's part 1 of the scam. Part 2 comes next. It will be either (a) Give us your bank account information to 'deposit' the money. or (b) Send us a 'fee' to cover the cost of sending you the money. I'm sure every one gets the idea. Scam.
