I just received a call August 8, 2013 at 3:33PM. From a guy who can barely speak English telling me he is from the government and I have been awarded an $8,000 grant that can only be used in good faith. That if I don't feel comfortable giving him my bank account information I can give him my credit card information so they can deposit the money into my account. I laughed at him and told him that wouldn't be happening and that I do not want his so called "money". He then hung up on me.
Scam to get my savings/checking account number or credit card numbers so they could sent me money. I was randomly selected to recieve $4000 from the government due to my paying my taxes on time every year.I asked them to send me a check in the mail since they had my name and address. They said this had to be done now and hung up.
I get the same calls and they state the same thing except the amount is different. They want a credit card number or bank account number to deposit the money into. I wouldn't give them anything. They already had my address and phone number obviously.
Just received a call from them saying they had $8,400 dollars for me in grant money and needed my account information. I told them I was reporting them to the BBB and they kept calling me back yelling F--ing B--- at me!
I decided to answer the phone after this # called me around 25 times in less than a week. Turns out, I too, have been selected to receive $8400 in grant money. They seriously thought that I would just give them my banking info without giving me any other information. He says "I'll give you a 'call back' number so that you can talk to my account manger". Then he goes on to say that they wouldn't give me any info unless I had a confirmation #. Guess what, in order to get a confirmation # they wanted the '1 time fee of $211'. SERIOUSLY!!! I really hope that other people don't fall for this scam
They called me twice yesterday and again today and I decided to answer just to see what scam they're trying to sell. Sure enough, I, too, was told I got a grant for $8400. I told her to send me some paperwork because there are too many scams out there and she hung up. I can't stand it.
