rcvd almost the identical call today from the infamous 'Ron Brown". Today must be scam Illinois day. I too am in the midst (nightmare) of trying to straighten out things with the IRS due to identity theft. Definitely a scam. Just a little unnerving and coincidental that the call comes while I'm trying to fix this ID issue. Have our files at the IRS been hacked again?
just received a voice message from this same "Ron Brown/Black" (message was garbled) threatening to call today so I won't get arrested for tax evasion. A little sketchy since I use H&R Block annually to file my taxes. Told me to call back the 202-684-6745 number and to "have a blessed day".
I did NOT pick up the phone, but I listened to the call on my answering machine, which recorded it. The caller claimed to be from the IRS and would be arrested if I didn't return the call. I've gotten very similar calls in the past and reported them to everyone/anyone who might care. AARP was the most helpful. I know these are scams.
