Who called from 2028368017

Rec'd a call from 202-836-8017 about 3pm EST on May 20, 2015. Caller ID says: Washington, DC. No message was left. Upon researching the number, it looks like the area code does belong to the DC area but the prefix is "inactive". Apparently, someone spoofs their number (from another country) to make it seem like it's coming from the states. Have no idea what their scam is but putting the number on my blocked list.

This is Lisa from the original post above. Received a call at 10am EST on May 26th, 2015 from 202-836-8017. Again! Especially bizarre considering I have put this phone number on my rejection/blocked list! I double-checked it and yes, it's on there, so I don't know how it got through to ring me. I did not answer but there was a message, sounded like it could be a fax?? No one said anything just a weird sound. Definitely something fishy since my phone system didn't block it as it should have.

We just received a call here at our Chamber Office from a local resident that had received a suspicious call from the same number.  I googled the number and came across your post.  Our resident said that the gentleman had a foreign accent and said he was calling from the Chamber of Commerce to get donations to protect the local economy.  She had already seen that the number was not local so she was suspicious.  She called us to make sure that it didn't come from us, so now we are trying to figure out who this is that is posing as the Chamber of Commerce.  Bottom Line, very fishy!  I wouldn't take any more calls from them.  Good Luck in trying to get this man shut down!

i just got a call from the same number said they were james watson from the IRS and there was going to be criminal charges against me if i didnt give them my info and clear up my debt to the IRS they could hardly speak english
