I also got the message regarding the "IRS" issue from 202-864-1240. Thought it was a scam, but glad I checked online to confirm. Thanks to everyone posting about these bogus scam calls. It helps everyone out.
Yes, I did too and I called back. It is not the real IRS! The person spoke in accent, very unprofessionally with threatining tone and words. The background was noisy and I could tell they were speaking foreign languages.

Just got a call from 315-458-7682. Let it go to voicemail. Recorded message said final notice of IRS lawsuit and to call this 202 number. Obvious scam. Reporting it and contacting my congress reps.
The call came in from 607-732-9064 but the call back number left was 202-864-1240. The recorded message said the call was from the IRS and that I was being sued. I've reported the numbers to TIGTA. I hope everyone understands the IRS will never contact you in this manner. We need to keep everyone on their toes about these scams.
If you can believe it they called my client who is a relatively recent widow... and just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. They left a message which terrified her. Terrible people!! What do I do when it is not me they are targeting but someone I care about?!
