Another SPAM call. No message left. Didn't recognize/didn't answer. Prof. Roger nailed it: these calls are because the BIG CORPORATIONS including our BANKS and TELEPHONE COMPANIES (VERIZON, are you LISTENING?) SELL our name and info, including phone numbers WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION. The government DOES 'go after' the telemarketers somewhat (mostly when they've SCAMMED a LOT of people out of A LOT of money) but of course the rest of them just keep changing their numbers and doing it all over again.
You ever notice HOW MANY DIFFERENT NUMBERS use the SAME RECORDINGS?
I came back to this website today to post that I received ANOTHER call from this number on 11/17 at 7:01PM. THIS time, they had removed the name "PacificTel" from Caller ID. Again, we didn't answer, let it go to answering machine. Again, no message. BUT it's still ANNOYING to get these calls, RUN to the phone, only to see its SPAM (CRAP!)
So, VERIZON, exactly WHAT are you going to make Stop? HOW? In fact, I have CALLED "YOU" and "YOU" said "There is Nothing we can do (Other than SELL me further "Security/screening SERVICES.") Are you gonna stop ALL of these calls? HOW will you KNOW which are which? Are you "LISTENING" in on MY CALLS? WHAT does this MEAN? And how do I know you're not just a HACKER/SPAMMER yourself '\"having a little 'fun'". I HIGHLY DOUBT that you are really "Verizon" because YOU DID NOT LEAVE A NAME, Company ADDRESS OR PHONE NUMBER TO CONTACT YOU. Besides, I *DID* ""Leave a Nickname" and - guess what? The calls DID NOT STOP. So, SHAME ON YOU, SPAMMER.
My telephone system allows 13 blocked calls, Verizon allows 5 blocked calls, wouldn't that be the solution to at least minimize these annoying calls? I'm just surprised that these callers are legally allowed to call indiscriminately, doesn't the law protect us against harrassment? Can't Congress intervene with a modification to whatever amendment it applies to?
