They call, after 3 rings the answering machine picks up, and they immediately hang up. These same people call week after week. Sometimes if I pick up or if they leave a message it is always how they are trying to make me think they are representing a credit card (none of which I have), company, and how they can save me money by lowering my rates. Every number they've call from is leased from SBC, and usually goes through one particular switch in Washington. Best way to handle them is by never, ever answering the phone if you don't know for sure who it is. if you don't recognize the name and the number, DON'T ANSWER IT. Next, get a phone system that allows you to block up to 100 phone numbers or more, and every single time they call, enter that new number into the list. These are some of the rudest, most unscrupulous people I've ever encountered, along with the people in the FCC, the State Attorneys General and the other do-nothings that are supposed to be enforcing the laws regarding these creeps and protecting us from them. These days it seems we need as much protection from our own government as we do these telemarketing creeps. God help us.
Recorded message re: lowering interest rates .. I can't control scammer calls but can control the calls I receive or answer by verifying incoming phone # on caller i.d. before picking up receiver. I always file a complaint with DNC list.
Oh, these annoying calls! The 'Do Not Call' registry is useless, because I get calls all the time.
It's fine to make laws, but who is responsible for enforcing them?
I have Caller ID and it's invaluable for avoiding the telemarketers.
However, sometimes they stay on the line just long enough to activate my answering machine, filling it up.
I wish I could activate some sort of 'shock' device to send a shock through the phone line and
ZAP the person at the other end!

Mr. Hamilton's direct personal # is 310-895-0574 - feel free to call him and harrass him right back.
