This is a scam. They called saying that there was a lawsuit against me for a paid day loan. They have called my cell and my job. At first i believed it than i started thinking about and asked for more information and the number to the company and they would not give me any futher information on the lawsuit other than saying i need to pay them X amont of money, but i refused. About a month went by and they started calling again, this time when i mentioned my lawyer the hung up on me. so please do not fall for this scam.
Received call on my cell phone and then on my work phone. When the number rang through on my phone it came up as "0000", after the guy got me on my voice mail he left me a number to call back of 760-279-3882 x 1286. A man with a strong Indian accent said his name was David Miller and that I had level 3 charges being brought up against me in the state of CA. He said that in June 2010 I had taken out a PDL and never repaid it. I immediately went to bank statements to see if somebody had broken into my bank account with out my knowledge. However there was no such PDL in my account EVER! The man then said that they tried to send papers to my house but nobody was ever there to receive them, another lie since the post office leaves a notice when you have registered mail. The scary part is this guy had all my information, the last 4 of my social, my address, my email address, the IP address of my computer, my work phone number and my bank account number. I repeatedly asked for proof of this PDL since I showed nothing and I know I never took one out. David Miller then preceded to tell me that he could not provide me with anything but that they had 14 pieces of proof against me. He said that I could go to court or pay them money, that those were my only 2 options. Again not true because the FTC clearly states that they do have to provide us with proof, this way we can dispute the claim if it is not ours. That night with in a 1/2 hour this man called me 10 times! And another 4 times the next day. He left me 4 voice mails, first he stated that he worked as a private investigator for the Federal Bureau of Banking and then stated it was the State Bureau of Banking (but he told me that they have no company name, funny huh) he said that if I did not pay them money that my social security number would be blacklisted (which I called the FTC and was told that is not true you can not do that) and that I would be in "serious legal trouble". He then preceded to say that if I did not contact him back they would send mailings to my email address and my work address (Again funny, why not to my home?). I filed a complaint with the FTC, but that is all I can do. These jerks can call and harass me all day and I can not do anything to make them stop. Once I said I filed a complaint with the FTC they hung up on me so hopefully that will work, although I doubt it. I am putting this out there so that it can help somebody else that they harass. DO NOT PAY THEM! THEY ARE A SCAM!!!
I have been getting calls from these people for about 3 months now. They have had different names and numbers every time they call. I just got another call today from a female named Tina who read the same exact letter as the last person. These letters were word for word. Telling me "all i can say is good luck" if I dont respond to them. The last one that called me I decided to have some fun with the guy. I called him 22 times within 6 hours. He kept hanging up on me and I called him right back. He asked me why I kept calling him and I told him that he keeps calling me so its only fair. He eventually put a block on my phone so I could not call him anymore. That didnt stop me I called him from my other phone. It only took 2 calls from my other phone and he had a block on that one too. So I got my wifes phone and I called him with that. He got so tired of me calling that he told me if I stopped calling them then they would stop calling me. I stopped him from calling other people that day because he didnt have any time.
And now I just got a call from "TINA" and I am debating on weather I want to play the same game with her or see if I can come up with something else I will let you know
I received a call from these people yesterday and today at my place of work. Yesterday she told me i was being sued but when i asked her by whom she told me i needed to call her back that evening. When i tried to call her the voice mail box was unable to receive messages. Today they also called me and i called them back from my cell phone during my lunch break and they said i was being sued for a cash advance non payment and check fraud. I proceeded to tell the man named mike that i had never had a payday check bounce and when i asked him when it happened he told me it was last year but he did not tell me a date. He did mention i needed to pay over 600 by the end of the day or someone would be coming to my work or home to serve papers and arrest me. Also a year ago i did not even have a checking account so i never used payday advances. I called my local police department and told them about it and they said it was probably a scam
Yea i having gotten 'threats' from these people say the are ACS Law firm in California. I called back and this lady spoke gibberish and hung up then i called back 3 more times and they just kept hanging up on me. I asked for all their information and they gave me a fake address and the number 209-439-7013. I made the mistake of paying these people over a year and a half ago because they claimed to take me to jail so they have their money but they are still harassing me for more. They are blabbing something about Chapter 19 section 9 that doesn't even apply to me and when i confronted him he acted puzzled that I knew the law. Then when I confronted him about the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act about harassment he acted confused. These people are really ticking me off and every time I confront them they disappear for a month then start harassing me again. LEGALLY they can do nothing because they are breaking the law.
