I agree that this is a telemarketer or scam of some sort. I get these calls a few times a week and my area code is 289; I know others in the 613 area code that also receive these calls.
I get the call on my landline every day. I'm with Telus and am in a 250 area code. I just don't answer these calls as a rule of thumb. That is the best way to protect yourself as far as I'm concerned. Don't believe in DO NOT CALL lists. I think they still give out calling list and when you sign up you are just putting your number on that list. I think Telus is in cahoots with these calling centres and that they sell calling lists to them for profit.
My area code is 250, and in canada don't kno how they can mistake those #'s :s its creepy they calll all the time, but when I try to call back, it says..the # u have dialed is not in service :s
