Valid call from USAA, was a message from my home equity adviser who is working on the closing documentation for my new house. The person who called is specifically who i have been working with (for about a month) regarding my closing. She requested no call back.
USAA security department - they flagged my account fro fraud - sure enough someone was ordering crap on the internet with my CC number. Very pleased with the response. New cards coming in the mail in 2 days.
I was worried about the call so I checked my USAA statement and the number they wanted me to call back on (866-550-5678) was right there on the statement.
It's a valid USAA number for their fraud and security center. If anyone makes a suspicious purchase on the account USAA will call to confirm the purchase.
Guys, this is a legitimate USAA phone number. I am a USAA member and am in the process of securing a home equity loan. I received two calls back to back from this number that were rejected by an app on my Droid as possible spam. I looked up the number on Google and got here. I received a note in my "My Messages" area on usaa.com three minutes after the missed calls so I am confident this call was from them. USAA is the best bank out there if you are able to get an account with them (military families) and this is a legitimate number for them. Any of you who have ever worked in customer service in a large company know that it is extremely common for one department to not know that another department tried to reach you.
