Got a call said I won a free cruise If I took a survey. The survey asked me health care questions. The automated voice then said someone would call me in 24-48 hours. In 5 min a guy called name Shaun and wanted to get me set up with the free cruise. He told me all i owed was $119 for port tax. I had to pay it right then to get the deal. I told him no thank you so he decided to text me on a different number and told me I could get the cruise offer when ever I wanted. Just text him.
I got a call from this scammer also. I turned the ringer off of my wireless land line telephone (base unit and hand sets). I use my cell phone as my primary mode of communication, and check my land line call log once/twice a day, whenever it's convenient for me.
I called this number back anonymously, I have outbound caller-ID blocking, so my number doesn't show up when I call someone (my phone company gives me this service). When I called, I got the message "Verizon wireless, this number has been disconnected...".
Riiiiight, not really. These scammers have their system set up so that if someone calls them with a visible telephone number, then their phone number is logged into a database and they are forwarded to a telemarketing representative. If, like me, you have caller-ID block, then their system prompts the out of service fake message.
Get "true dialer" from Google play. It's free. It replaces your contact and dialer on your smart phone and works great! It's a free caller I.D. too for some calls.
