Legitimate process servers do not call to warn you, or to get money from you to stop the process. They will deliver the notification without warning.
Also, if you were threatened with an "arrest warrant" via a phone call or email, read this:
http://news.uscourts.gov/warning-arrest-warrant-scam
"The warrant is phony. A valid warrant would not be served by fax or e-mail. It would be served in person by a U.S. Marshal or other law enforcement officer."
"Anyone receiving a fake arrest warrant should contact the FBI or the district U.S. Marshals Office. If there is any question regarding the authenticity of a warrant, contact your district clerk of court."
There is no question these people are scammers. Once I mentioned to him that I wasn't paying anyone anything until I verify the company I owe money to he said they don't want anything to do with me anymore and I can't call them - so I said I wasn't paying anyone until I can validate my debt which is when he quickly hung up on me. This not to mention he claimed they would let my employer know about the case against me in fraud which would be illegal in itself. They are certainly not allowed to contact your employer for any reason especially if it has not even gone through legal channels.
same thing here but the guys name was CHASE, JOHNSON. phone number was 210-774-4246 ext. 434. I knew he was full of it because he didnt even know who the hell i was, BUT the guy was looking for my daughter who he did mention by name and said she has a pre-trial hearing coming up and she was gonna be arrested for a warrant and go to jail for an unpaid pay-day loan if she doesnt show up. I told him it was illegal to discuss such matters over the phone with a stranger who isnt even party to the cause even if my daughter got a pay-day loan or not, but she never has. so i proceeded to tell him if he wants to make an issue about it i can give him my cousins direct phone number who just so happens to be the director of operations for the buffalo, ny FBI fraud unit. The scum bag immediately hung up on me.
