NUMBER called this morning I answered it said goodbye I tried to phone back it said not in service a half an hour later phone rang again same number I answered Indian woman said computer issues need to go in your computer I went along HOWEVER THE SENIOR WHO LIVES HERE DOES NOT HAVE A COMPUTER I STILL WENT ALONG WITH IT I THEN SAID I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT THE WOMAN BECAME FURIOUS AND SAID YOU WASTED MY TIME SO I SCREAMED REAL LONG THEN SHE HUNG UP
ADDING - there is no way they can tell that you have a computer problem(which is what they claim) without checking and accessing your computer - which is a major NO!!
I received a call from 212-425-4079. The female was calling about my computer. Told her I didn't have a computer and she said that Verizon was providing the internet service at my address and that they were getting feedback that my computer was being attacked. She implied without saying directly that they represented Verizon. Told her I was glad verizon was supplying me with internet service that I for free and for nothing since I didn't have a computer. Eventually she hung up after stuttering a little. I called Verizon and they do not provide any information to anyone outside Verizon and that this was a scam. Also received a call from this same number yesterday which I did not answer and again while I was filling out this form. I answered the call and got a computer generated "good bye".
SCAM
Answered 3 calls from this male with Indian type accent about hackers trying to get into my computer, knew my name and address and said something about a IP code or something that identified my computer, talked over my stating that I thought this a scam as well as other questions. Did not answer the following 3 calls from this number.
