Ditto Jimmy. The same people have been bugging me and arguing with me for at least 2 years. I politely turn them down. Now I hang up immediately. They actually have very fine specific-industry journals/magazines. I just want to read them, buy stuff from their advertisers and not have them phone me ever again.
This call comes to my cell phone almost every day in the afternoon, and I always miss the call. Occasionally my voice mail will pick up but there is never a message left. If I call the number back, a recording tells me that the number is disconnected, but the number listed is different than I one I dialed.
I get the call every single week day. Never at the same time. A voicemail is never left and when i answer they hang up. I tried to have the number blocked but was told that it is not possible to do so. How do i get it to stop?
I have received several calls from this number over the past few days. A live person is not hanging up. The call is being made by an auto dialer which keeps track of the days and times at which the phone is answered by a live person (as opposed to voice mail) before automatically hanging up. In this way, they develop a profile of the best times to reach you. Eventually, a live person will call at one of these optimized times (I have not received the live call yet). I have no association with Institutional Investor, so I have no idea why I am being targeted unless they somehow have me as a lead as a potential new subscriber. Also, it is possible that this phone number belongs to an all purpose telemarketer who hawks many different products.
Thanks for the info Tom... Just got a call on my cell from this number (same business as what everyone else is reporting: you pick up, they hang up). I'm looking forward to the day when telemarketing dies.
