The Do Not Call gov service can do nothing about these types of calls because while they may show up with a local, or at least a real, area code, the calls are not actually coming from that area code. These are VOIP calls & tracfone, etc and are originating from offshore locations, ie: India & the Philippines.
The Do Not Call service has no jurisdiction in the places from which these calls are originating.
FYI: the DNC was not created for and is not law enforcement. It does not chase criminals. It maintains a no call list that is required to be purchased by Registered FTC businesses.. That's it!
The DNC is a section of the FTC. It is self funded by the average $3500.00 per year that each legitimately registered business pays annually to purchase the "List" and updates every 31 days, plus the $10-16k fines by those registered businesses who violate the registry DNC list. It does not chase criminals or scammers. If the violator is not registered within the FTC data base, the complaint is not valid and flushed. The problem belongs to a different entity.
The DNC does exactly as intended but the problem is lack of knowledge of most people who have assigned additional hypothetical responsibilities. It was created for one sole purpose. That is to "Limit" the amount of telephone sales calls to those on the list, by those FTC Registered American based businesses who legitimately sell products goods or services. Absolutely nothing else.
