Called me in the past and called me again just now - 2/3/16 at 4:26pm. They claim to be from the US Department of Grants and Treasury in Washington DC. I asked why the number is from California. I asked what part of the DOT they were calling from and the caller began to curse me out, telling me to hang up the phone, and threatening that if I didn't hang up, they would charge me $500.00. I imagine they can't hang up their own autodialer. Very Nasty. If I get another call its worthy of a restraining Order.
I got 3 calls back to back. 2 frof 213-623-9999. Said he was from WInows and trying get to help me with my computer. Told him I knew he was scam and not talking to him. He said he had ID number to my computer. I hung up and he called right back telling me he was just wanted to help me and I kept cutting him off. Told him quit calling I knew he scam I hung up and same man called me back from 213-648-3052. It said royal Bus. Bank. Still said wanted to help me and would give me my computer ID and why did I keep cutting him off. Told him I would call Windows or Microsoft a d leave me alone. I hung up them got a call fro. Unknown # with no answer. Same man every time. Had a thick accent. I get these calls every week but not 4 back to back.
Got a call from 213-623-9999 this AM as a follow-up to the call from a different number yesterday. This clown claimed I had won $2.5M from Price Waterhouse Cooper and all I needed to do was pay a $599 registration fee. He wanted me to go to the Western Union office and get a check but when I said I didn't know where the office was he said he would look up the address for me. Yesterday he agreed to deliver the check to my house when I said I would have the $599 in cash. However this AM he changed his tune. He also wanted to get an email address for me so he could send me some documents proving he was legitimate. I'm thinking that email would have included a phishing scam. I had to hand up on him after he kept telling me it wasn't a scam but on the call I kept hearing a rooster crowing in the background! I guess Price Waterhouse is now going for that "done on the farm" feel. :-)

We get calls from this number all the time and if we don't answer they just call from a different number. Got a call again today, it's always the same thing, a guy with a very strong accent Indian or Nigerian saying his name is "Michael Jordan" or "Michael Johnson" (they've used both names) in more than one scam when calling me. He then proceeds to tell me my computer has been sending them error messages for weeks and they're going to help me resolve the problem, so that my computer is protected from viruses and hackers! (Now that's a joke if I ever heard one) The guy that called today got very very nasty with his language and in the things he said to me when I wouldn't follow his instructions. Especially when I asked "can you protect me from you?" (NOW THAT was a funny reaction let me tell ya!) THIS IS A SCAM!! MICROSOFT DOES NOT CALL PEOPLE!! DO NOT LISTEN TO THESE SCAM ARTISTS, especially senior citizens, they're trying to confuse you, then trick you into giving them control of your computer, so they can STEAL all of your information and passwords, they will lie about absolutely everything for you to trust them. THEY ARE NOT TRYING TO HELP YOU, THEY ARE TRYING TO STEAL FROM YOU!!! THEY WILL TAKE EVERYTHING YOU HAVE AND NOT THINK TWICE... If you are a caregiver of elderly parents or grandparents please be aware of these kinds of scams, these jerks are looking for older people who don't understand computers and the technology of today. They will take full advantage of the fact that they don't understand. ALL BEWARE!!!
One of the best things a person can say when these jerks keep calling is.....
"I don't have a computer, so how can it send you any error messages?!" It's amazing how fast they hang up!
Sigh. Caller i.d. said Powertronics, Inc. DH expecting a call, but not in the room. I picked up to hear silence, then "goodbye." I NEVER pick up unknown numbers, but expect to get even more now.
