It was just blank air. I hung up. I am on the Do Not Call List. We also don't ever receive calls on this phone except for the occasional telemarketer, so I was suspicious. Sure enough that's what it was.
Happened to us today... tells us that the errors they are receiving from our computer is a violation and if we do not take action immediately, they will be forced to call the police and have us brought up on charges. When we asked what company they worked for - they refused to answer saying that they would call the police. What scums of the earth....
Someone called from "the technical department of windows" saying that my computer was generating errors. When I asked how they connected it with my phone number, they said it was "registered in their system". Sounded like a scam. Didn't hang on long enough to find out.
Same experience just now. Claimed computer was sending errors and wanted to access it. Can hardly understand. Woman passed call off to man. Asked him which version specifically my windows was and he named them all just to cover bases.. Told him I was skeptical of course so he gave me my email address and home address to prove he already knew everything about us. Told him my pc wasn't connected to Internet and he was quite thrown off by that. Told him I would take it to shop and have them call. He gave me a different number for technician to call. 285-573-0548. Disturbing
Called at 7 a.m. which is against the law. I have talked to these morons before about my "Windows" problem. I told them I knew they were scammers and they got nasty. I told them to go back to their cave.
Agreed - it is a scam. Called my 78 year old mother. Claimed they were from Microsoft.. Sadly, my mom let them on her computer. They wanted $'s to "clean/fix" the problems. Thankfully she didn't do that, however since they were on, there was plenty of cleanup I needed to do to remove back doors, Trojans and other malware. More thankfully she never rebooted so much didn't take root and I am able to remove before payloads are executed - I'm waiting for more cleaning utilities to do their job before crossing fingers and doing the inevitable reboot.
