M Benavidez......your post is hilarious! I just received a call from this same phone number and let it go to my answering machine. I heard the guy identify himself as Joshua Williams (heavy Indian accent) and he was from the Dept. of Legal Affairs-US treasury. When I heard he was looking for our daughter, I lost it! I picked up the phone and SCREAMED at him, "You sonofabuck! How dare you call our house! Our daughter doesn't live here anymore and I know this is a fraudulent call. Don't you EVER call back here again!". I slammed the phone down so hard that it's fortunate I didn't break it. Our family is dealing with the impending death of a brother and this is the last thing I need my phone line to be mucked up with. Hopefully, people are getting smarter and don't fall for this scam. Maybe I'll get a whistle to put by my phone in case they ever call back again. Someone is going to need a doctor to deal with a broken eardrum!
1-213-928-7123, Man with strong foreign accent called 11/21/14, claiming to be from U. S. Department of Legal Affairs. Said I needed to contact my lawyer, for what I am not sure. His accent was very strong and I could not understand most of what he said. I did not answer the phone.
I just got one of those calls. Also telling me about a legal matter and that it would be to my advantage to call them back or it would turn into a mess. It is obviously a scam. The treasury does not make calls; they send you certified mail.....
I received a message left on my answering machine today so I decided to call back as the accent made it difficult to understand. An individual did pick up the phone and and preceeded to ask my name which I didn't give but after a moment he stated my name most likely my number was tied into some computer program. I told him I would be looking into his number and low and behold...it's in California. Last scammers were in Washington St. Guess there working their way down the coast.
