I didn't know this was HSBC until I Googled the number and saw all of this stuff. If they would have spoken I would have known. My car will be paid off very soon, and that is not soon enough for me.
I just got a new car financed by HSBC last week. I haven't even gotten anything in the mail yet acknowledging an account. When I answered the phone, there was no one there.
It is HSBC Auto Finance. I have a car loan with them and I am a week late... They are very nice about it and pretty chill... I like them, but wish they could stop calling on Sat mornings...
i HAVE BEEN RECEIVING CALLS FOR WEEKS FROM THESE PEOPLE. SINCE THEY NEVER LEAVE A MESSAGE, WHEN I WAS HOME AS THEIR CALL CAME IN, I LET CURIOSITY GET THE BEST OF ME. I ANSWERED AND THE GUY TELLS ME HE'S CALLING ABOUT THE $740 PAYMENT ON MY PT CRUISER. PROBLEM?
1. I DO NOT OWN A PT CRUISER (DON'T HAVE THE STOMACH TO CONSIDER IT-YUCK)
2. I DO NOT HAVE A LOAN WITH HSBC
3. WHEN I EXPLAINED HE MUST BE MISTAKEN, HE ASKED FOR MY SS# !
(I PROMPTLY REFUSED: WHY WOULD I GIVE YOU MY SS# FOR AN ALLEGED LOAN, WHICH I DO NOT HAVE ON A CAR I WOULD NOT OWN!)
4. THE TONE WAS VERY NERVIOUS, I STRONGLY SENSE AN IDENTITY THEFT ATTEMPT.
-WHEN I TRIED TO RETURN TEH CALL BY DIALING THE INCOMING NUMBER, THE AUTO ANSWER SAYS THEY RECOGNIZE MY TELEPHONE NUMBER, PLEASE ENTER THE LAST 4 OF MY SS#. THIS IS ABSURD. I WILL CONSULT AN ATTORNEY, ONCE I GET A NEW CREDIT REPORT. I HAVE EITHER BEEN VICTIMIZED OR HSBC IS TRYING TO DO SO.
This sounds like the exact same issue, except we were told we owe on a 2006 Toyota Corolla.
You try to get more information out of them and it seems that they deal with problems by hanging up instead.
HSBC Auto Finance has called about 27 times the last three days. When we finally answered the phone they told us we owed money on a car that we don't have in our posession. In trying to understand the situation, they hung up on us.
