I keep getting this call and they asked us where we lived my sister had answered it, she then got 3 questions 1. What's your name, she replied 2. How old are you? She replied again. Then question three 3. Where do you live? She didn't reply I hung up the phone and my family is now scared.
This is the second time they have attempted to tell me that i am having issues with my PC i laughed and told him how could that be if was not a windows user. I proceeded to tell him he was either making an attempt to hack my computer or scam with some BS and asked him which one was it he said it was an emergency to fix and update my windows PC and again i laughed telling him he was mistaken because I run Linux . He hung up
...called me tonight in the 303 Area Code (Colorado). Told me my Windows computer had a problem. I told him that all we have in our house is Unix Servers and a Cray Supercomputer. I told him that Microsoft has not written any software for those machines and that he should go f*** himself.
These guys just keep calling don't they. Well I turned the tables on them. I wasn't paying attention and picked up the phone and with some quick thinking answered IT department how may I help you, the guy started his speal, I said again IT department what is your computer problem and he got so confused and started again giving me our name and came back and said this is a business IT department what is your computer problem now he is really confused and said he was supposed to call homes not businesses and hung up. It is to bad that NSA can't use their tools to track these scammers isn't it.
I got a phone call today about my computer sending error messages. I knew it was a scam as soon as they told my about my misbehaving computer. I played along and he wanted me to press window key + r to open the run command. He told me to type in eventvwr which I didn't but I told him I did. He asked how many events I saw. I told him 5 and he couldn't believe it. He wanted me to do it again. I told him I would just call our Computer Technical Support person to assist me and he didn't want me to. He gave me a number and asked me to call him back. I don't think I will do that and I blocked his phone number. What a pig. Thanks for all the laughs. I think I will look up Hindi cuss words next time.
"Microsoft" computer maintenance scam. Guy with thick Asian accent told me I needed to update my Windows software and they would help me to fix it. Told them to stick it where the sun don't shine. I run Linux. I have heard of people who fall for this. They install ransomeware and make you pay to have it removed.
