You may not care if they get in touch with the person they are looking for, however they are not making a lot of money and are doing a lot of work trying to contact someone, whom they can actually help. Being in debt is a sad and sometimes scary thing for people so they hide from instead of facing their problem, this in turn creates an even bigger problem. IF the person they are trying to reach is known to you, think of it has actually helping that person not the collector!

I receive calls from this number; but, no response.  So, I have no clue what this is in reference too, and I'm not paying a bill for something I'm not aware of.  Somebody make it go away.

TARDS!  CONSUMER RIGHTS!
I want to mention that under no circumstances should you EVER give any of your personal information to a collection agency **WHAT THEY DON'T HAVE, THEY DON'T NEED!*.  There is nothing in any law anywhere that says you have to cooperate with them.  I was reading throughout some of all of your comments, and it never ceases to amaze how ignorant and how uneducated people are when it comes to credit/debt/collections.  I would bet to say most of you have no clue what your rights are cause you choose not to know them and choose to just fall in to the "Collections Trap."
If you are summoned to court, YOU NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER agree to pay anything, EVEN IF you have a vulcher attorney wanting to rape you for every dollar you have.  I wonder how many more decades it's going to take for this society to understand that collection agencies are still using practices from 30 years.  And what would that be you may be asking....Scaring, Threatening, Lieing, and STEALING from/to you!  It's called send them a letter of a CEASE and DECIST folks!  If they call you after they receieve that letter, file suit, and LITERALLY!  They'll end up owing YOU money.
Why so many of you make this out to  be a big deal is beyond me.  In fact, another bit of advice: you're NOT obligated to give them your address, phone number, bank numbers or anything, AND THAT'S LAW!!!!!  If they don't know how to find you, they can't summon you to court and they can't take money from your paycheck, AND NO, that is NOT defrauding, as so many collections agencies like to put it.  If you haven't used the card for more than 6 months, YOU ARE NOT defrauding ANYONE!!!!  You're only defrauding a credit card company when you knowingly use the card and have no intention of paying it back.
Unsecured debt is just what is sounds like.  No, they cannot come and take your car!  No, they cannot come and take your belongings in your house!  No, they cannot throw you in jail **UNLESS** you fail to show up to your court date, which, hopefully some of you know, is considered 'in contempt of court', BUT HAS NOTHING TO DO with the credit card company!  You're no good to them if you're in jail!

***REMEMBER ONE THING:  Collections Agencies thrive on your ignorance as a consumer, and they are counting on you to believe everything they say! Collection Agencies & Bloated Attornies = RIDICULOUS and ASSANINE!

you must have really bad credit giving  ignorant advice like that  ... if you were so smart you would know that when your account is in collections you must deal with the collection agencies handling the debt in order to pay the bill so you must give them your perosnal info .... you must be a real dead beat ..  just like most of the dead beats on here that post blogs about things they know nothing about ....
