The car-warranty scam. If you get a call warning you that your vehicle warranty is about to expire, fret not! It is just a scam to try to obtain your credit card number. Congress is asking the FTC to shut them down already, but in the meantime, you can either just hang up or amuse yourself by making fart noises at the real live human who takes your call. I think if they call again I will sing to them; it should be fun times.
I received many (many!) calls from this company...
best thing to do is face them head on!
Answer the phone, wait on the line, and talk to a live operator.
They will ask for your name, give them a fake name. Then they will
ask you about your car. Make one up. I told them I drove an '89 Yugo!
Then they will ask if there are any cars in the household that are between 1996-2008. Of course you will want to answer 'no' to this question.
Then they will 'thank you' for your time, and take your name off the list.
I talked to them over a month ago, and haven't received one call from them since!
I got this number too. It was one of the few that you can actually look up though. On the whitepages you can do a reverse look up. this one belongs to some lady living in Southampton, PA 18966-2661. It is Not a company it is a scam!
