If I offer to settle a debt by making regular monthly payments, can a collection agency refuse to accept these payments? Our insurance denied a claim for about $5000 and the hospital sold the debt to the Revenue Group of Beachwood, OH. They are pressuring us to use a credit card (at 25% interest) or take out a personal loan, neither of which we are prepared to do. What is my next step?
Our caller ID keeps coming up with this number 1-855-830-5320. We recently got a letter from the Revenue Group ( a collection agency) returning our check and stating that they were no longer handling this acct.
I haven't had too much trouble w/ them. I asked for verification for the debt and I received it 2 weeks later. They let me split my $500 account into 3 payments. Overall for a collection agency, this was not a bad experience.
When one owes numerous medical bills, and can only pay a little to each-the original debtor is not satisfied with this and sells your account for pennies on the dollar to a debt collector. Cleveland clinic sucks- they sent me to collections after I sent them a payment and gave me no warning that they would be doing this. I continue to send money to cleveland clinic and it keeps getting cashed, but the collection company wants money too- sorry not going to happen. I will pay my original debtor and with every check on the memo line I write "acceptance of payment plan if cashed or endorsed". My repayment plan not theirs. They wanted a couple thousand dollars in three payments. 3 payments is their max- 3 is not going to happen...it's going to take me a year or more.
Calls several times a day and leaves the same pointless message. I don't owe any medical bills or student loans, so it wasn't difficult to block all their numbers. Just send me something in the mail and I'll look at it; otherwise your number will stay on my block list indefinitely.
