The best way to mess with these people is tell them you'll donate so have them send you a bill then send it back with no money and write on the bill to take you off their list. They get no money and it cost them postage.
My fiance has contributed to police funding in the past, so when these people called, I assumed it was the same organization. I told them to send me information, and I mailed a check for $15. A few months later, the local news did a piece about it - I'd been scammed. They called a few months ago and I told them I couldn't contribute at this time - I didn't feel like having an argument with them. I never responded to their letters. Today I saw their number on the caller ID. This is out of control. How can these people keep this up without some consequences?
Caller ID shows POL PROTCT FUND and when they answer I tell them to leave me alone and they keep calling every day practically. Lisa Madigan, Illinois States Attorney does absolutely nothing about these calls and it's useless to report to her about it. I reported it on www.donotcall.gov but they still call. Hope they like the tv noise because when I answer now I just lay the phone on top of the TV until I hear the noise to hang up. Worthless bums.
This is a "SCAM". None of your money goes to benefit any police agency or police officer if you donate to these dirt bags. If a police officer is injured in your vicinity, then by all means contribute to a fund that has been set up locally. You will hear about the injury or death via the local news or neighbors. If an officer needs help of any kind, his or her buddies will usually be right there to help and they will get the word out. The word will get out, but not by these scumbag telemarketers. They are the bottom feeders of scammers. Get the word out to your family and friends any way you can that they should NOT answer these calls and they should NOT fall for the line of BS from the other end of the line. Request that your State's Attorney General look into this scumbag group and shut it down.
