The best way to mess with these people is tell them you'll donate so have them send you a bill then send it back with no money and write on the bill to take you off their list. They get no money and it cost them postage.
Caller ID showed "POL PROTCT FUND" -- Guy named "Larry" asks for me by my first name. He didn't get past the first "How are you?" Told him to stop calling. It was a very short conversation. I kind of hate to select "Non-Profit Organization" as the Caller Type in this website report as I seriously doubt he's really a charity of any kind, but that's what he claims. Right.
I say we start reporting these fraudulant calls to the telephone companies that own the numbers. If they know how their service is being used and do nothing about it they are accomplices to crime.

Got a call from this person last week saying that they're collecting money for Illinois families of cops killed in the line of duty. And then he said, "Do you still live at (my home address)?", and I said, "No." and hung up. I wrote down, "possible police impersonation". It felt very threatening. I don't have caller id, but I did a *69 reverse look-up and it said the last incoming call was 217-483-9596. It was at the end of May 2008 at 5:59pm.
Caller kept interupting me when I said that I had made a donation (stupid me) 2 months prior. He said it could not have been them since they only solicit once per year. I then asked where my check went (very small, trust me) and he sarcasticallly said, "How am I supposed to know!?" I ended the call. I wish I had checked Lisa Madigan's website regarding such organizations before donating. Don't respond. Best to ignore the call when popping up on the caller ID.
