Many months ago my bank advised that thousands of MasterCard, and other, ATM card numbers had been compromised by unknown hackers. The creeps making these calls have apparently gained access to that stolen data. However, the information they have is useless unless you give them additional data. Data such as the card’s expiration date, the security ID number or, probably worst of all, your ATM PIN.
Do not fall for the scam(s). If the deal or offer is too good to be true, you can be sure it’s not true! It’s just a clever scam to harvest your personal data. They already have card number, name & phone number. Don’t give them any more than they already have.
Telemarket call from AVA. Said they would send me a $25 Wal-Mart for being a goood AMEX customer. Final pitch is to reel you into a monthly fee club. They are not affiliated with AMEX. They disregard you being on the Do Not Call List.
Have been getting 3 calls a day from 231-732-2641 from people with Indian accent. Wanting to give me a $25 Walmart giftcard to thank me for being a valued Visa card holder for some time. Declined the offer. I never accept offers over the phone. I think it is a scam! Don't fall for it. Finally my husband talked to them and asked them to remove us from their list. Tip: when picking up the phone, and there is a slight delay before you hear their voice, you know it is a computer dialed number. Just hang up before you hear a voice.
I have finally stopped answering my phone. The POTS keeps calling for my husband and we kept saying they have the wrong number and yet they have not ceased to call. We just gave up.When we see the number come up we just mute the ringer. I have had a bill collector do the same thing relentlessly 10 or more calls a day 7 days a week. We cant even have a quiet sunday dinner with out these interuptions. Best thing i have found is to turn off the ringer. i have a phone that lights up when it rings so if the ringer is off we can at least look to see who it is. i have yet to figure a way to get them to stop. maybe if we all get together and start a civil suit it will stop.
